Tradepal Highlights at ArtBasel 2011
The annual Art Basel Miami Beach has arrived and Tradepal has put together some highlights. Now in its 10th year it has become one of the world’s most prestigious art shows. Whether or not you are an art collector, there is fun to be had by all this weekend as it offers an array of special exhibitions, artistic crossovers and collaborations, music, fashion and of course…the parties.
While some large scale events with private invites have already passed there are still the many events and exhibits. This year various fashion houses had pop-up shops with guest list only parties including Dior, Pringle of Scotland and Guess. In case you weren’t invited, here are a few that you may want to add to your list that are accessible to the public.
Located in the Miami Beach Convention Center is Art Basel Miami Beach. Over the bridge art lovers can find the huge gallery tents and visit such galleries as Scope, Red Dot, Pulse and Art Miami. If you venture into the Wynwood area there are local graffiti artists’ murals everywhere. If you are looking for something fresh, stop by and view young emerging artists and musical performances at Miami Independent Thinkers. Additionally, in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District, Art Whino will exhibit participating artists painting Large Scale Murals on the outside of 10 buildings spanning from NW 2nd Ave to NW 5th Ave.
In case art isn’t what you had in mind, stop by Wall this Saturday for DJ Danny Tenaglia as he introduces partygoers to “The Art of Dancing” at WALL in the W Hotel. Also Moby will also be performing at Mansion this Saturday with special performances by Cirque du Soir London. Over at the Shelborne South Beach, visit photographer Seth Browarnik’s Art of Night sponsored by Ciroc and Bing. Maybe a visit to a castle is your idea of fun. Tickets may still be available to Basel Castle offering various musical performances and located in the Design District.
To try the latest flavor by Absolut, stop by the Absolut Miami space located in Wynwood and try out the limited-edition liquor which blends passion fruit and orange blossoms.
